Theater improvisation professionals are able to create stories on the spot, out of nothing.To do so, they train key skills such as active listening, adaptability, effective communication, lateral thinking, storytelling, and emotional intelligence.With this theatrical improvisation activity, you’ll foster an environment that will empower your team and take each participant to the next level.Team members will learn the fundamentals of how to improvise compelling scenes—like real actors. They’ll discover, in a fun and engaging way, new ways of working together by improving listening and communication.

Dare to take to the stage without scripts or rehearsals. Through theatrical improvisation, you'll learn the most important skills every team needs to function as an orchestra.

Many team-building activities end up being just a fun event without creating lasting change in the team.Our activities follow a carefully crafted methodology that combines fun with experiential learning.The main focus is for your team to have a great time and take away a meaningful shared memory — all while, almost unconsciously, improving key skills like empathy, listening, creativity, and co-creation ability.

What is Impro Teams?

Impro Teams is a team-building activity based on Theatresports, a typical improv genre that functions as a satire on sports competition.

To carry this out, we will meet in a real theater—an ideal setting for this experience (optionally, it can be held in a company-provided space adapted for the purpose).We will develop your skills and competencies through creativity in a safe and trusting environment. The emphasis is placed on collective creation, listening, and acceptance through the “Yes, and…” mindset.In this space, your team will play, take on roles, contribute ideas and solutions, using their bodies and voices as primary tools.

What kind of activities will we do?

They are special activities that professional improvisers use to activate attention, practice storytelling, and train collaborative action, safety, and trust in others. These activities engage the three dimensions of the self: physical, intellectual, and emotional.

How does the activity take place?

From the very beginning, we’ll get into action to learn the fundamentals of theatrical improvisation. We’ll play with activities focused on trust, listening, storytelling, and collaboration, creating the most fun and wild scenes. After this training, you’ll be ready to perform like professional improvisers (or at least believe you are—which is what really matters!).

Then the team splits into smaller groups and the great Impro Teams Tournament begins!An epic, playful competition where teams improvise scenes based on random phrases drawn from a hat.The winning team will be the one that makes the best mistakes, embraces the ridiculous in the most exaggerated way, and collaborates to create the funniest stories.

We finish with an awards ceremony just like the Goyas! Reliving the best moments and reflecting on how to apply what was learned in our organization and everyday life.
